Procuratorial authorities crack down on organized crime in accordance with the law
The law on anti-organized crime, which came into force on May 1, 2022, is China’s first dedicated, systematic and comprehensive law regulating anti-organized crime work. This newly issued law plays a significant role in building a peaceful China and advancing the rule of law in China at a higher level, and increasing people’s sense of happiness, benefit and security. Meanwhile, it is of great importance for the peace and contentment in people’s work and life, the stability and order in society, and the long-term stability of the country.
Guangdong’s procuratorial authorities impose severe punishment on organized crime in accordance with the law and they are committed to bringing all suspects into justice. Since 2018, they have prosecuted a total of 21,088 people in 4,465 cases involving organized crime, ranking at the forefront of the country in quantity and quality. Furthermore, as they deepen the crackdown on officials who provided protection for organized crime, a total of 220 people have been prosecuted since 2018. As 2022 is a year for carrying out regular campaigns to crack down on organized crime, procuratorial authorities across the province will fully implement the law to severely crack down on organized crime and further carry out the regular work of combating and rooting out organized crime for more solid outcome in line with the rule of law.
